I love doing press work despite the pay being worse than abysmal. It’s fun to be sent off to shoot some portraits and not really to have much idea of what you’re getting until you get there. West magazine – Western Morning News’ glossy Saturday supplement asked me to photograph a handful of individuals for profile pieces on north Cornwall’s finest.
My subjects were varied – a child refugee, an interiors designer, a polo school and a purveyor of cool classic cars and bikes.
While I can do formal studio portaiture, this was all about environmental portraiture on location and trying to capture something special in a real situation.
