As everyone knows, St Enodoc church is the resting place of that great English poet Sir John Betjeman & was once almost buried by the sand dunes where it sits overlooking Daymer Bay in north Cornwall. Normally the problem with weddings here is that it’s tiny and can only hold about 50 people.
Simona & Chris’s wedding, on a clear, blue-skied, sunny but freezing January day, didn’t have this problem. It was just them, the priest, the church warden and I. Weddings don’t get smaller than this (the church warden & I were also the two mandatory witnesses for the wedding certificate).
Full of humour (not many brides would serenade a refuse lorry) and effortless chic…and just an intensely personal morning. Later in the year, I photographed their big wedding party in Seville too…but that’s another story…
