Two families staying at Restormel Manor (a Duchy of Cornwall mansion), a 13th century castle and a bright summer’s day – perfect components for a great family photo-shoot.
Whether running around the Manor’s gardens and playground or dressing up as knights and invading Restormel Castle next door, there were always going to be some interesting and varied images.
If anything, that day the light was too bright, too harsh – as a photographer you need to be very careful and either seek the shade or use backlighting. I even set up some outdoor studio lighting for some more traditional portraits and headshots – it’s another option that I use in certain circumstances and if the client wants more formal portraiture.
