I was delighted to be commissioned to photograph Princess Anne opening the brand new Mount Kelly School 50m swimming pool last month.

Royal-snapping is something I’ve not done for a while…not in fact since about 2005 when I photographed Princess Anne’s slightly more famous mother in London for the Reuters news agency, when I was cutting my teeth in photojournalism and reportage photography.

And I’m very glad to say that HRH was superbly engaging, chatting happily with young, old and middle-aged throughout the visit.

The pool itself, surrounded by both Mount Kelly School and local school children – plus a good smattering of Olympians and Paralympians – is state-of-the-art. And very very long. Truly an impressive training resource for Tavistock locals and for the future GB athletes which Mount Kelly consistently produces.

And for me I hope it’s the start of a new relationship with a great new client, with whom I hugely enjoyed working.
