Location: Danish Crown processing factory, Bugle, Cornwall
Brief: To create a mix of formal studio and environmental portraits in the factory
Commissioned by: Danish Crown Ltd
Global meat processing company Danish Crown commissioned me to shoot a series of portraits in their Cornish factory. They wanted both formal portraits of key employees as well as natural environmental portraits of the same employees at work. This shoot required me to have two camera rigs – a portable lighting set-up (with Canon DSLR) and also a reportage rig (Fujifilm X-Pro2). Working around the almost 24-hour shift system was interesting – quite apart from the unusual location…luckily I’ve photographed in abattoirs before so it was relatively familiar. The reportage shots were particularly fun, with an unlimited licence to wander around the plant catching those unguarded moments.
